This is an article about the development of the solar microscope or sometimes known as projection microscope. The inventor of this great equipment in microscopy is a German physician and naturalist Johann Lieberkühn. He used this microscope in studying small animals and in his study of zoology, illuminating them with sunlight using an instrument that bore his name. Scanning Electron Microscope

This article discusses the Scanning Electron Microscope or SEM. This microscopy instrument consists of an inverted column or an electron gun at the bottom, three electrostatic lenses and electromagnetic scan coils placed between the second and third lenses. The intensity of the image forming beam of this microscope is proportional to the scattering or secondary emission of the specimen where the probe strikes it. The more electrons a particular region emits, the brighter the image at that point. Scanning Electron Microscope images typically contain a good deal of topographical detail. A photo multiplier tube detects the scintillations on a phosphor screen with an addition of a light pipe. The light pipe allows direct optical coupling between the scintillator and the photo multiplier tube. By utilizing this microscopes inverted column, electromagnetic lenses, double deflections scan system and stigmation coils, these improvements combined in one instrument can greatly improve the efficiency caused by the secondary electron emissions. Microscopes are instruments designed to produce magnified visual or photographic images of objects too small to be seen with the naked eye. This group of instruments includes not only multiple lens designs with objectives and condensers, but also very simple single lens instruments that are often hand held, such as a loupe or magnifying glass.

Prepared microscope slides provide a quick method for learning about biology and how to use a microscope. Unstained microscope slides with living or fresh tissue specimens can also be viewed but may need an optional phase contrast kit for better viewing contrast when they are viewed under an advanced biological microscope.
